After clearing up the question of whether shooting matches are games of chance or games of skill, the Rappahannock Board of Zoning Appeals granted Mr. and Mrs. Charles Eckhardt a permit for a shooting range on Route 729. No one appeared in opposition to the permit issuance at Thursday’s meeting and only Charles Gasch, president of the Castleton Fire Company, spoke in favor of the Eckhardt’s request. The applicants, however, presented petitions with 45 signatures in support of the shooting range.
Charles Eckhardt noted that every neighbor except one within a two-mile radius of the shooting range had signed. The only refusal, he said, came from a renter rather than property owner. Mrs. Eckhardt explained
