Patty Alexander of Flint Hill, her mare D’Arcy, took second place honors in a 50mile endurance ride held April 28 near Avondale, Penn. The pair finished the course in four hours and 33 minutes, missing first place by barely a length. Mrs. Alexander said that D’Arcy cantered almost the entire 50 miles, walking less than one mile total and finishing the last four miles at a dead run. Mrs. Alexander and her ten-yearold, three-quarter Arab mare are in training for Old Dominion’s > 100 mile ride scheduled for June. For their victory in the Pennsylvania endurance ride, Mrs. Alexander and D’Arcy were awarded a bronze “Top Ten’’ belt buckle and first place trophies for both halfArab and registered endurance horse.
