Miss Raye M. Rector graduated Magna Cum Laude from Longwood College, Farmville on Saturday, May 12, 1979. She received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education.
Raye was a Longwood Scholar, the college’s program which accepts high school seniors based on high academic achievement. In order to retain her status, she maintained a 3.5 grade average on a 4.0 grading scale each college semester.
She was accepted into the educational honoraries Alpha Lamda Delta, Kappa Delta Pi, and Phi Kappa Phi during her freshman, junior and senior years, respectively.
Raye graduated from Rappahannock County High School in June, 1976. She is the daughter of Lyle and Dorothy Rector of Marshall.
