To the editor:
We the citizens of Rappahannock, wholeheartedly agree with your editorial, two weeks’ ago, expressing concern about the litter being scattered all over the county. “Who cares”, you ask.* “about keeping Rappahannock beautiful?”
A reasonable question and the answer is, most of us do. Led by a number of organizations we pledge to support a program of beautification and cleanup in the following ways. ' On Saturday, June 30th, students, parents, everybody ; ^will pick up litter along the roadsides and streams and bring it to central deposit points in each district. Aluminum cans will be kept separate.
The Lions Club and other organizations will operate the deposit points and distribute litter bags. The Highway Department will provide the litter bags, pick up the trash at the deposit points (except aluminum cans) and properly dispose of it. Then on July 4th everyone will bring the aluminum cans to Washington and feed them to an aluminum eating monster know as “RLEP, the Litter Lapper.” Spawned by the Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection, he will be eating the cans, spitting them at the Reynolds Aluminum Company and giving the
