peper Minute Men Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution met at the Historical Museum in Washington, Va. for their monthly meeting October 11.
Mrs. Howard Holschuh, past president of the Rappahannock Historical Society, spoke on the establishment of the Museum and of the many records added to the Museum.
The feature speaker of the afternoon was Mrs. C.E. Johnson, Jr. who reviewed the book which she and her husband wrote. Rappahannock County, she said, was established in 1833 having separated from Culpeper County. At this time Woodville and Washington were the two towns in the county, so the question arose as to where the county seat should be. Around 1835 the Court House was built at Washington. Other interesting facts concerning the early history were brought out by Mrs. Johnson.
During the business part of the meeting presided over by Mrs. Dale Metzinger announcements were made of the chartered bus trip to Washington, D.C. for a tour of the Museum and Library at Constitution Hall November 3 and also of the National Defense meeting
