Officials at Shenandoah National Park say they expect the peak fall colors to continue through the end of the month.
Superintendent Robert R. Jacobsen says the park’s fall color display ordinarily peaks between October 5-25 but appears to be running about a week late this year.
Skyline Drive, extending 105 miles through the park, provides easy access for motorists seeking vantage points to view the autumn colors.
Jacobsen added that the campgrounds officially close on October 31. The only exception is Big Meadows where lodging and camping are available through January 2. The park remains open for day use and backcountry camping throughout the winter-.
