\Nhen the sun came up he was still there, more than anything Scooter wanted to hear Tommy's voice. Then, in front of his eyes he saw two beat up Nikes. he looked up at the words. "Scooter! Scooter, I’ve been looking everywhere!" A young boy crouched down and ruffled Scooter's eai-s. Scooter jumped up and in an instant everything was wonderful again as they played and ran. Forgotten was the waiting, forgotten the lone liness. Not looking back they sprinted across a sunny field. Tommy first followed by Scooter leaping at his ankles.
Scooter didn't look back and see the two figures standing at the grave, shoulders shuddering, tears streaming down their faces. He didn't see how gently Frank Marshall reached out to touch the cold canine laxly lying on the grave.
