While applications may he received through the end of February or until available funds are depleted, Kreitler says applicants are advised to come to her office as soon as possible. “We deal with applications on a first come/first served basis,” she says. “They are processed within 30 days and notice goes out in the mail:”
Kreitler says two major changes have been made this year in evaluating eligibility. Starting this year, any money earned by household members under age 10 will not be counted toward the maximum yearly income level. Also, the fuel type used in the household will no longer be considered. The fuel allowance will be the same for everybody.
