He was rather calm and he did it rather casually.” The time she shot, Kidwell explained, was after Spellman threatened her. “His whole .demeanor had changed...He was violent looking, dangerous.”
“There’s no question you went down to the roadway to stop him from working on the right-of-way?” asked Merril.
"That’s right.” Kidwell agreed that she had said she ’’wasn’t going to let him bulldoze any further,” that the right-of-way was where she was “going to make her stand.” She addeded, “That was a poor choice of words but it’s true,” maintaining further that she had a right to have a gun on her own property.
