The Rappahannock County High School now offers intramural sports to the student body. In charge of intramurals is Mr. Currie. Mr. Currie saw there was a need for more organization in the games that students played in the mornings. He also felt that many of the students who are unable to stay after school should be allowed to participate in organized sports. At this time the school year is divided into three seasons. Each season has two different sports, one for girls, the other for boys.
At this point in time, flagfootball and women's soccer are offered. There are about 50 students enrolled in these two sports. Mr. Currie feels the program has been very successful. He sees much competition among students and a real feeling of being part of a team.
During the winter, basketball and possibly wrestling will take the place of football and soccer. The spring sports will include softball and frisbee golf.
Right now little money has been needed for the intramurals, mostly because equipment from the gym has been used and teachers are donating their time to coach and referee.
