The Rappahannock County welfare office will begin taking fuel assistance applications Tuesday, November 1.
This is the fifth winter federal grants have funded the fuel assistance program intended to help eligible households pay their winter heating costs. The program is not intended to meet the family’s total cost for the heating season, but only to offset the rising cost of home energy.
During the 1982-83 winter, 112,720 Virginia households received help with their home heating bills with the average fuel assistance grant coming to $307, according to the Virginia
