The Rappahannock School Board received a report on “topics for action” at the schools for 1985-86.
The phrase, “topics for action,” refers to areas needing improvement at the schools as identified by a poll of teachers, parents and students during the past school year. “All of these are areas that we intend to work on in the coming year,” said Superintendent Robert Estabrook.
At both the high school and the elementary school, the poll’s results indicated that there was a need for more attention to an individual student’s needs and for classes to be less textbook oriented, and a need for more community involvement with the schools.
Elementary school concerns were that there be alternative education programs for students who do not keep up with their classmates, that there be in-service activities for teachers, effective administration and staff communication and supervising assistance with instructional programs for teachers.
