Orange County
holds festival
The Town of Orange plans to holds its 11th annual street festival on Main Street Sept. 7 from 9 a. m. to 5 p.m.
The festival this year features about 130 booths set up by artisans and crafts people throughout the eastern part of the country.
In addition, other activities are planned. The James Madison Museum will be open for visitors and the nearby home of the fourth president, Montpelier, will be open for grounds tours for a fee.
Hearings set
on ADC changes
The Virginia Department of Social Services will hold five public hearings around the state during August and September to discuss proposed changes in the Aid to Dependent Children (ADC) program.
The closest hearing is set for Aug. 22 at James Madison University in Harrisonburg. The first hearing is to begin at 2 p.m., the second at 7 p.m.
The proposed changes will affect the 185% ADC eligibility screening process, money deemed from a stepparent to the ADC applicant or retipient’s assistance unit, the length of ineligibility period prescribed for the ADC recipient who receives a lump sum payment, the value of food and clothing contributed to the ADC home, and Medicaid eligibility.
