The Amissville Volunteer Fire Department is sponsoring a circus today starting at 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the carnival grounds.

The circus will include clowns, acrobats and jugglers, bears, mokneys, dogs, horses and elephants.

Tickets are priced at $5 for adults and $4 for children under 12. Come and support the local fire department.

On August 24 there will be a Truck and Tractor Pull benefiting Amissville Volunteer Fire Department at the carnival grounds. Weigh-in is at 12 noon and the pull starts 1 p.m. Adults $7 and children under 12 free. Come out and support the local fire department in this fundraiser.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank McWhirt of Chestnut Hills had as their house guest for several days their daughter, Mrs. Michael Murphy of Mine Run. On Thursday Mrs. McWhirt and Mrs. Murphy were in Arlington and Falls Church visiting friends. Luncheon guests of the McWhirt’s on Tuesday were Mr. and Mrs. Russell Ellett of Charlottesville. Wednesday for the day' Mr. and Mrs. Fred Powell of Falls Church and Mrs. Ethel Powell of Alexandria were visitors of the McWhirt family.
