The Rappahannock County Supervisors have scheduled a meeting with their paid consultant for 9 a.m. tomorrow to settle a confusing issue concerning its insurance coverage.
A change of regulations within the insurance industry apparently made it difficult for local insurance agencies to write policies to cover municipalities.
As a result, Rappahannock County was forced to seek coverage from other sources in early June, a situation that has cost the county about $1,600 a month since the problem arose.
That situation is expected to be remedied tomorrow.
When the county learned that Clement Insurance Agency of Culpeper was unable to write a policy to cover the needs of the county, Supervisors contacted the Virginia Municipal League which in turn directed the county to Alexander and Alexander, a Richmond-based agency.
Within three days, the agency wrote a policy to cover Rappahannock and Supervisors authorized payment of the premium to buy the policy.
