As you go in search of a place to dove hunt, look for standing fields of com, as it will probably mature and be cut before the dove season opens, or shortly after.
Some of the best dove hunting I’ve experienced was during the corn harvest itself. As the tractors and wagons came and went, they stirred up the birds from first one direction then the other, and as I stood concealed in the shadows of a fencerow. the doves flew back and forth as 1 proceeded to shoot up most of the shells I had brought with me.
Shooting of this nature demands a high degree of safety and discipline. Never forget for one second, the zones of fire that are safe and the zones of human and animal activity.
Most .landowners will be pleased with your early efforts to obtain permission, not a last minute decision once the season is open and doves are sighted.
