tivities and feasts. One of Peggy’s favorite experiences was Richmond on the James, a chartered boat with 150 people aboard that cruised down the James River with music and dancing. They also had a great time at the sheriffs awards banquet held in the hotel where they were staying-the Hyatt Regency. Oh, was every morsel delicious, especially the prime rib!
Various awards were presented to outstanding sheriffs of Virginia, and special awards were sadly given to the families of two deputies who were killed this past year.
Some other activities that John and Peggy enjoyed were the target shooting contest (for the sheriffs), the tea with a fashion show for the ladies and swimming in the Hyatt’s pool. They had such a great time meeting so many kind people and getting away for a change, that they are truly looking forward to the next conference.
