RAAC looks for members
to raise operating funds

The month of March is the date for the annual membership drive of the Rappahannock Association For the Arts and The Community (RAAC). The organization, according to its director Anne Stephens, offers a lot of benefits to its members including advance mailings and discounts on events.
“We are looking for more members,” said Ms. Stephens. “There are so many people in this county we haven’t yet reached.”
“Some people do not realize that we like to make (the theater) available to any arts related events,” she said. “We are trying to be more responsive to the community. ”
The money raised by the membership drive generates revenue that will help refurbish the main hall of the theater. Some of the seats are in need of repair; wall repainting is also needed. “Our goal is to completely renovate by late spring or early summer,” said Ms. Stephens.
The current membership numbers approximately 300 people. ‘We are looking for more,” said the director.
In pointing out the advantages of attending RAAC’s weekend films, Ms. Stephens said that “we show only critically acclaimed movies and there is really a warm community feeling here — people always run into their neighbors and friends.”
RAAC has several types of memberships available: an individual membership costs $10; student membership, $3; sponsor membership, $25; sustaining membership, $50; and a patron memberhip, $100. For more information call the RAAC office at 675-3193.
