Project FACT (Faculty And Community Together) was a workshop conducted last fall for RCES gifted students. Mrs. Piper indicated a hope to provide another FACT workshop later in the spring.
Parents viewed a slide show about Project FACT. The slides were taken by Sean Kilpatrick. The students were shown enjoying Jr. Great Books, computers, art, drama, math activities, critical thinking activities, and others.
Future plans for the gifted/talented program include a 1986 summer program, computer camp, and a gifted program at Lord Fairfax Community College.
In April gifted students will have the opportunity to receive instruction from an artist-in-residence.
Most recently, a workshop was offered to gifted students in grades three through seven in Madison County. Rappahannock public schools absorbed the cost arid transportation. Students could select from a variety of sessions ranging from computers and brain busters to candy making and sharks. Mrs. Piper and several teachers accompanied participating gifted students to Madison on March 15 for this workshop.
