The National Defense chairman, Mrs. Edgar Puryear, in her report stated that President Eisenhower in his address when leaving office said “the vital element in keeping peace is our Military establishment. Our arms must be mighty, — ready for instant action.”
Mrs. James Weaver, chairman of the by-laws revision committee suggested an increase of chapter dues and also a change in officer election dates. These suggestions will be discussed and voted on at the May meeting.
Eight chapter members are attending the 90th Virginia Daughters of the American Conference being held in Richmond this week.
The April 8 meeting will be a tour of Ash Lawn. Members are urged to get their $11.00 for lunch and Ash Lawn entrance fee to Mrs. Zillah Gutowski by April 4.
