Rappahannock County Elementary School’s Jump Rope for Heart will have a different twist to it this year. Rappahannock Elementary and the American Heart Association’s Rappahannock Unit have joined forces to make the event run more smoothly this year.
The biggest change is that the children will not be collecting money. The process will work as follows: At the time a child receives a pledge, they will give the donor an envelope and instruction sheet, so that the donation may be mailed in. The children collect the pledges to compete for prizes so it is asked that people mail in their donation as soon as possible. The jump teams have always jumped the whole time. The children will not be allowed to handle the money this year.
The funds raised by the Jump Rope for Heart are used for community programs, such as Heart Health Education For the Young, the Save A Sweet Heart Program, and the High Blood Pressure Speaker Series.
The Jump for Heart has always been a success and we hope that it will continue this year. It is a fun way to promote good cardiovascular fitness while at the same time raising funds for the community.
