‘TOP” (Training, Opportunities, Programs) priorities have been accomplished in gifted programs at the Rappahannock County Elementary Sehool.
Teacher in-services conducted by Tee Garrison of Mary Baldwin College and Robert Estabrook, Division Superintendent, have been provided for the teachers.
Teachers have attended faculty meetings with community resource people, such as Laurie Marshall, Tim Kilby, Dawn Fisher and Lyt Wood.
Ms. Pamela Rowe, Gifted/Talented Coordinator, presented a session bn “Teaching Styles.”
A gradute level class entitled ‘Teaching the Gifted” taught by Janice Szabos from James Madison University was offered last year.
Two gifted/talented committees were developed, a screening committee and a division committee which is responsible for the GIT Journal, quarterly newspaper.
Students had the opportunity to participate in field trips, 1984-85 summer programs, poetry workshops, a dance workshop, and project FACT.
