The Planning Commission last Wednesday recommended after-the-fact approval for a cabinet and furniture making business that has operated without a permit for the past four years.
Tom Von Fange was directed to apply for a special use permit after Herbert and Ann Sakalaucks, neighbors of his shop on Route 522 in the village of Woodville, complained to the zoning administrator.
“We request that you recommend approval of this special use permit to the Board of Zoning Appeals,” the Sakalaucks’ attorney, Frank Reynolds, told the Planning Commissioners at Wednesday’s public hearing. “But we do have conditions we hope you will impose.”
The property on which Mr. Von Fange operates his business is zoned village residential. In that zoning district, cabinet making and furniture repair shops are allowed by special use permit.
