The second annual Artists of the Blue Ridge Exhibition is a unique event staged by the Rappahannock Association for the Arts and the Community, which has as one of its goals the promotion of local artists.
The entries were screened by a jury of RAAC representatives and local art experts. They include traditional and innovative Virginia crafted art as well as watercolors, oils, photography and etchings.
Artists from all over the state will set up their displays Saturday, October 18, at 10 a.m., and remain in Sperryville until Sunday evening. Among them will be many familiar Rappahannock favorites: Robin Purnell, Tom Spande, Cindy Mahan, Laurie Marshall, Jeanne Drevas, and Joel Hoyer. Appearing in a joint display will be selected artists from the Middle Street Gallery Artists Cooperative.
RAAC will be offering chances to win one of three works donated by the artists. The new RAAC Calendar, making its official public debut, will be available for sale at the exhibition, along with the popular RAAC tee-shirts and balloons.
