-According to the Virginia Cooperative Extension Service, the number one consumer complaint nine years in a row involves mail order problems. The Federal Trade Commission gives consumers certain rights when ordering by mail.

You have the right to know when to expect the merchandise to be shipped. If an ad says the company will "rush” an item in less than a week, then it must be shipped within that time. If a company doesn’t specify a date, the order must be shipped within 30 days.

Sometimes a company receives many more orders than expected. If there is going to be a shipping delay, (the company must give you the right to cancel your order and getafiillrefund.
