Flossie Williamson would have loved it - all her friends gathering at her church for herb tea and herb sandwiches, sharing herb lore, herb reciPes snd herb gardening tips.

Sunday’s tea at Trinity Church ransh House is a celebration of Florence Bellwood Williamson and her unflagging efforts to introduce everyone to the wonderful world of herbs.

Mre. Williamson always planned to write a cookbook featuring the recipes she’d refined over the years to show that low-sodium, low-cholestrol foods, spiced generously and ingeniously with herbs, could taste just as good as they were good for you. But she died before the project was finished.

In her absence, the Friends of Flossie took over the task. They pored over her notes and collected the scraps of advice she’d jotted down for those interested in growing lovage or cooking with savory. Using the little herb lady’s own words as much as possible, they’ve captured the flavor of Flossie herself in Flossie’s Recipes.
