and went on to compete four more years before graduating to the U. S. Air Force Academy. “We believe that youth does not keep one from having a first class mind.”
“Or memory,” Mrs. Wayland interjected.
“And it certainly helps to have the first class reflexes of youth,” added Mr. Flinchum.
Neither the Pop Quiz producers por the kids from the other schools knew anything about Rappahannock six years ago - even where to find it on a Virginia map, the RCHS English teacher told the School Board. “So they put us in Division I. They don’t care what our enrollment is or the condition of our buildings. All they know about us are the four or five kids from Rappahannock who show up at the studio.”
Proving they belong in Division I and can hold their own against both public schools with double the enrollment and private schools touted for academics, the four Pop Quizzers fr$m RCHS have advanced twice to t$e quarter finals and once to the aeftii-finals in the months-long competition.
