Mason Carbaugh, Commis sioner of the Virginia Department < t Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS), has announced that the geographic area regulated under the Virginia Gypsy Moth Quarantine will be expanded effective Jan. 1, 1988.
In extending the area, he said “Each year we survey for this pcs: to determine where it is and how fai it has moved. This past spring and summer we found that it had moved a little farther southward in tinstate, making it necessary to expand the regulated area to incorporate, these new areas of infestation. "
Commisssioner Carbaugh stated that the additions to the regulated area include the counties of Fluvanna and Powhatan, the cities of Portsmouth and Chesapeake, and the remaining parts of Albemarle County and the city of Virginia Beach that are not regulated under the current quarantine.
