In addition to the task of providing adequate care for de-institutionalized patients, mental health professionals provide prevention, stress management skills and education. They help people cope with family crisis, divorce, alcohol and drug problems, v and they counsel victims of physical and sexual abuse. They also act as liaisons between emergency services personnel, hospitals, law enforcement and social services agencies.
