I am writing in response to the Rappahannock News Article, dated November 12,1987, stating, “Supervisors decline to support resolution for mental health.” According to the article, Ms. Jo Gorman, executive director of the five-county Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services Center, asked the Board of Supervisors “. . . for a resolution calling on Governor Gerald Baliles to hold firm to his commitment to provide ... an already promised $42 million dollars for mental health and mental retardation ... the $42 million comes from a surplus on hand and not new taxes ... the resolution request initiated by mental health professionals and local community services is an attempt to ensure mental health and mental retardation programs don’t fall by the wayside ...”
