Updikes join
Angus Assn.
Katie, Scott and Justin Updike have been accepted as junior members of the American Angus Association, according to Dick Spader, the association’s executive vicepresident.
The three new junior members will be eligible to register cattle with the national organization and take part in Association-sponsored events and regional and national cattle shows.
Katie, Scott and Justin are the children of Randall and Toni Updike of Washington.
The American Angus Association is the largest beef registry association in the world, with more than 30,000 active adult and junior members. Its headquarters are in St. Joseph, Mo.
JMU offers
broadcast
institute
WMRA-FM, public radio for the Shenandoah Valley, in cooperation with James Madison University’s communication department and Television Production Center, is offering a summer high school broadcast institute.
The institute will be held from June 26 to July 1.
The purpose is to provide rising high school seniors with practical exposure to radio and television production as well as discussions of the professional and ethical responsibilities of radio and television careers.
Fifty students from throughout the Commonwealth will be selected from applications sent to each school. The institute is concerned with training future broadcasters who will serve communities throughout Virginia.
