IRS extends
hours for
tax assistance
The IRS has extended its hours of taxpayer assistance to help Virginians prepare their 1987 tax returns. “Beginning this Saturday, IRS assistors will be answering the toll-free tax information telephone lines from 9 a.m. to 1 p,m., and many offices will be open as well,” according to Jack Petrie, IRS district director in Richmond.
“We realize that many people will have questions due to the changes in the tax laws affecting 1987 returns. By offering Saturday service, Virginians will have additional opportunities to ask questions and file their returns as soon as they have all the necessary information,”
