Virginia’s first presidential primary will be held on March 8, but to be eligible to vote in that election you must register by Feb. 6, said Rappahannock’s Registrar Ruth Kilby.
The registrar’s office at the Courthouse in Washington will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, to register new voters or record changes of address. Mrs. Kilby said that address changes of voters already registered are also important, since it often means a change of location for voting.
In addition, she said, there are several guidelines which young, first-time voters should be aware of.
Anyone who will be 18 or older by March 8 will be allowed to vote in all elections this year.
