J. Newbill Miller of Washington
has been appointed director-at-large of the Culpeper Soil and Water Conservation District by the Virginia Soil and Water Conservation Commission, according to an announcement from Rappahannock Commissioner H. S. Barksdale.
Diane Randolph DeBergh, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John R. DeBergh of Harris Hollow, Washington, graduated with distinction from George Mason University in Fairfax Jan. 14 with a bachelor of arts degree in sociology. Miss DeBergh is a 1973 graduate of Rappahannock County High School.

Welfare Department director, said that the fiiel assistance program, closed down in December because of rapidly dwindling funds, is back in operation. Ms. Kreitler said that Congress added funds to the program during its closing session, enabling the program to continue until March 31.
Two Rappahannock students have been named to the Dean’s List at James Madison University for the fall semester. Recognized for academic achievement were Steven L. Hensley of Castleton and Anthony M. Armentrout of Woodville.
