The toll-free tax assistance number is (800) 424j1040. Assistors are available Monday-Friday from 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. as well as Saturdays from Jan. 23 through April 15.
The Winchester IRS office, located on the second floor of the Kuykendall Building, 20 Cameron St.. is open each Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to noon and from 12:45 to 3:30 p.m.
“Many answers to general tax questions can be found in the tax package instructions or in more than 90 free IRS publications,” Mr. Petrie added. “Forms and publications can be requested by using the order form in the tax package, or by calling 1-800-424-FORM.”
