A full weekend planned
On Wednesday, Nels Parson, Sandra Cartwright-Brown and Nancy Reeve picked up the visitors in Washington after their one-day orientation.
On the way to Rappahannock, the group stopped in Warrenton to visit the Giant supermarket, McDonalds and a drive-through car wash, as well as a bank. All, explained the organizers, represent technology which may be unfamiliar to the Soviet citizens.
On Thursday, a visit is planned to Chris Parrish's farm, after which the guests will accompany Mr. Parrish to the Front Royal Livestock Market. Lunch and jierhaps other stops may be planned en route.
Thursday evening the Soviets will he the guests of honor at a community covered dish supper at the Washington Fire Hall. Reservations for the dinner must be made through Mr. Parson (675-2122). A nominal charge is requested for beverages and clean-up.
After dinner, entertainment by a variety of county residents is planned, including gospel music, classical music by a group from Wakefield School, popular ballads by students from Rappahannock County High School, country music by Dan Lewis and friends, a recitation in Russian by Wakefield students, and an audience participation segment in Russian, led by Mr. Parson. Additional entertainment may he added after presstime.
Roger Roach, chief of the Washington Volunteer Fire Department, has also offered tours of the company's fire and rescue equipment,, which includes an Advanced Life Support medicunit for critical medical or trauma emergency management in the field.
