grading and paving an additional 15 miles of our approximately 100 miles of unpaved secondary roads at an estimated cost of $1,500,000.

The eligibilty for funds is based on traffic counts; after a certain volume of use is reached it is more economical to maintain the roadways if they are paved. Major road improvements are decided on by VDOT in conjunction with the county’s Board of Supervisors and the residents of Rappahannock County through the six-year plan. This plan is updated annually.
