Choral concert May 13
_ Th® Culpeper-Piedmont Choral Society will present its annual spring concert at 8 p.m. Friday, May 13, at the Culpeper Baptist Church, 318 S. West St. Music Director Lois Shanks will lead the 50voice chorus in “An Evening of Beautiful Music” from England and the United States. With soloists, organ and orchestra, the “Requiem” by British composer John Rutter will be performed in addition to songs by Gershwin, Kern, Friml, Porter, Webber and others. Woman’s Club to meet
The Rappahannock Woman’s Club will meet Tuesday. April 26, at 8 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Barbara Burke near Sperry ville. Cheri Woodard, proprietor of The Faith Mountain Company in Sperry ville, will be speaking to the group on herbs. All members are urged to attend.
Mass meeting to be held
There will be a mass meeting of the Republican Party of Rappahannock County at 8 p.m. on Friday, April 29, at the courthouse in Washington. The purpose of the meeting is to elect delegates to the 7th District Convention May 21 in Ashland, Va., and the State Convention June 10-11 in Roanoke, Va., officers and committee members of the county party for the 1988-89 term. All interested registered voters are invited to attend.
Moral Survival: Fiction and Films
of the 50’s
The film Executive Suite, made in 1954, will be shown at the Gay St. Theater Tuesday, April 26, at 7:30 p.m. It is the final program in the series of lectures and films sponsored by the Friends of the Library and the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities and Public Policy. Shelly Winters, Louis Calhem, Walter Pidgeon, Frederic March, Barbara Stan wick and others equally well-known are featured. The movie is a classic frequently shown to students of business and management. Admission is free.
Aerobic dance and flexercise
A six-week series of aerobic dance classes will begin Tuesday, May 3. Classes will be Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6 p.m. at Rappahannock Elementary School. Class fee is $25 for twice a week or $35 for unlimited attendance to aerobic and flexercise classes. A six week series of flexercise classes will begin Monday, May 2. Miss Rappahannock contest
The Sperryville Volunteer Rescue Squad is sponsoring its annual Miss Rappahannock contest on Saturday, May 7. The contest is open to girls between 2-19 who are county residents. For more information contact Sherry Johnson (987-8655) or Nancy Leake (987-8971).
‘Cinderella’ at Wolf Trap
RAAC is sponsoring a bus trip to see the Paris Ballet perform Cinderella, directed by Rudolf Nureyev, at Wolf Trap. The trip is scheduled for July 13, but reservations, accompanied by half the $35 ticket price, must be made by May 1. The price includes bus fare, ballet ticket and a snack.
Dr. Adams promotes health
with a smile
Dr. Hunter (Patch) Adams, medical reformer and director of the 17-year-old Gesundheit Institute, will appear at the Gay St. Theatre on Friday, May 20, with his “Magic Elixirs of Life.” Playing a snake-oil salesman, he’ll promote tonics for healthy living, nutrition, exercise, wonder, curiosity, love, nature — 18 in all. Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. show are available at Mountainside Market in Washington. Proceeds will benefit the Institute, a non-profit health community.
