Margaret helps at the Child Care and Learning Center, with the Rappahannock Association for the Arts and the Community (RAAC) and with the local literacy program. “Our RSVP program offers many choices,” said Margaret. “Through it, I’m able to choose what I like to do, what I can do. There’s so much to be done, all important and rewarding. I guess my main reason is that I enjoy it.”
Sid Gottlieb also volunteers his time for RAAC, and for the Hospice of the Rapidan, another RSVP assignment. “I have benefited so much - from the one-on-one contact in Hospice,” he explained. “You’re dealing with people at an awesome stage in their lives, but it’s a stage that we’ll all face. I’ve found an honesty and openness in the dying that I haven’t found anywhere else. It’s been an education for me, and a great source of personal learning.”
