“This is a significant reduction, and one we hope is due, at least in part, to the Virginia Rider Training
Program and its safety message,” Mr. Williams said.
The curriculum for the Virginia Rider Training Program was developed by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF), a national, nonprofit organization. Courses are offered for beginning and experienced riders, and are taught by MSF-certified instructors.
Training centers for the program currently are located in Northern Virginia, Winchester, Richmond, Charlottesville, Harrisonburg, Tidewater, Roanoke, and Bristol. Mr. Williams said other centers will be approved throughout the state when qualified programs are established.
