It was the School Board’s turn to be educated last week as Superintendent David Gangel showed board members a film on Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS), the deadly virus that attacks the body’s immune system.
The film, which Dr. Gangel said will be viewed by all the teachers in the county’s two public schools, features a doctor’s explanation in unsensational, matter-of-fact terms of the disease’s history, how it progresses, and how it is transmitted.
The superintendent said repeatedly that this particular film is intended for instructional personnel and will not be shown to students. “It is a bit more blunt than those on the market for students,” he explained.
