A funeral service was conducted April 18 at Geest-Johnson Funeral Home in Culpeper by the Rev. Lindsay Savage. Interment was at Hillcrest Memory Gardens near Jeffersonton.
Pallbearers were Jack Compton, Arthur Scott, John Kendall, James Scott, Thomas Scott, Eldridge Grigsby and Robert Grigsby.
Richard Backe
Richard Evan Backe, 30, of Culpeper, died April 14 in Fredericksburg.
A native of Remington, Mr. Backe had lived in Culpeper for many years. He was self-employed in the wood service business.
Survivors include his wife Sandra Payne Backe, a son Christopher Evan Backe, his parents Mr. and Mrs. Eddie W. Backe, three brothers, Warren Giant Backe, Eddie Lee Backe and Robert Marshall Backe, all of Culpeper; four sisters, Joyce Weakley of Culpeper, Shirley Estes of Manassas and Rosie Foster of Flint HiU; a step-brother Paul Denny Jr. and a step-sister Judy Broyles.
A graveside service was conducted in Fairview Cemetery April 17 by the Rev. Bobby Rooper.
Charles Burke
■ Charles Louis Burke, 42, of Mahassas, died April 12 at Prince William Hospital.
He was the son of the late Charles Louis Burke and the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Gabe Burke of Washington.
Survivors include his wife Margaret E. (Peggy) Burke, a son Charles L. Burke III of Raleigh, N.C., two daughters, Shannon M. Burke of Raleigh and Crystal R.
