Elsie Howell

Elsie Mae Howell, 86, of Luray, died April 11 in Harrisonburg.

She was the widow of Allie Edward Howell.

Survivors include a daughter Ethel M. Jenkins of Culpeper; three sons, Ranville Howell of Dayton, Floyd A. Howell of Harrisonburg, and James A. Howell of Luray; two brothers, Robert Wince of Orlean and Ashby Wince of Warrenton, and three sisters, Minnie Foster of Flint Hill, Lucille Butler and Ella Clark of Warrenton.

Graveside services were conducted April 14 at Beahm’s Chapel Cemetery in Luray.

E. V. Jenkins

Eugene (Junk) V. Jenkins, 60, of Culpeper, died April 12 at Culpeper Memorial Hospital.

A native of Rappahannock County, he was the son of the late Wes and Carrie Jenkins.

Mr. Jenkins had lived in Culpeper for many years. He was a retired foreman with Bingham & Taylor.

Survivors include his wife Dorothy M. Jenkins of Culpeper, a son Rusty Jenkins of Culpeper, three daughters, Shirley Estes of Manassas, Rose Foster of Flint Hill and Rebecca Deal of Culpeper, his stepmother Florine Kent of Manassas, a sister Evelo Jenkins of Culpeper, three half-sisters, Ruth Duncan, Losi Menefee and Doris Yowell, all of Culpeper, two half-brothers, Charles W. Jenkins of Fredericksburg and Bobby Ray Jenkins of Manassas, and seven grandchildren.

A funeral service was conducted April 14 at the Clore Funeral Home Chapel, Culpeper, by the Rev. H. 0. Browning. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, Culpeper.

Hugh Smith

Hugh Warren Smith, 74, of Amissville, died April 16 at Oak Springs of Warrenton.

A native of Rappahannock County, he was the son of the late John Warren and Lucy Ann Hitt Smith. He was a retired employee of the Virginia Department of Highways and a member of Forest Grove Baptist Church at Viewtown.

He is survived by his wife Roberta Virginia Weakley Smith; two brothers, Wilmer Smith of Salisbury, Md., and Frank Smith of Japan; six sisters, Roberta Woodwar and Virginia Fletcher of Warrenton, Ellen Welch of Flint Hill, Nettie Hitt
