Beverly is married to Ryland Chesser. They have one daughter, Leah, 15. They live in Anderson,
S. C. (Although Ryland is recovering/! from his fifth heart attack he hopes to be able to join Beverly for the event.)
When I first met Beverly in July, I was fascinated by her energetic and enthusiastic manner; it was obvious stardom had not changed her down-home attitude. She is humbled by the recognition and says she hopes God is honored, since it is through his strength she accomplishes her goals.
Beverly was a 1980 graduate of Culpeper County High School. One of her former teachers Rev. Floyd T. Binns, who taught for 36 years, coaching for 30 of those years, remarked that Beverly was an excellent student but was no great athlete; that’s why he is amazed at some of the things she can do on her program.
Beverly played the clarinet in the band. Her former band leader Walter Thomas, currently Secondary Supervisor for Culpeper County Public Schools, remembered her friendliness and willingness to help the musical organization to be the best that it was capable of being.
Beverly was one of 11 children born to Leah Gore Payne (now 81). and the late Norman Ashby Payne.
