With demand for blood on the increase and collections lagging, the Fauquier Chapter of the American Red Cross has scheduled a Bloodmobile at the Warrenton United Methodist Church on Thursday, Nov. 10, from 12:30-5:30 p.m.
The demand for blood at Fauquier Hospital is up, said Mary Beth Waldeck, who is in charge of the hospital’s blood bank. In the first six months of this year 700 units were transfused, she said, with the period of heaviest demand yet to come. In that same time span only 583 units were collected by the Fauquier Chapter.
For all of 1987 the hospital used 1632 units, while the Fauquier-Rappahannock community was able to furnish only 1256 units, Mrs. Waldeck added.
