Sweet biscuit crust

1-1/2 cups flour

1-1/2 tsp. baking powder

1-1/2 Tbsp. sugar

1/4 tsp. salt (optional)

1/2 cup butter or margarine

1/2 cup milk or low-fat milk

1 egg slightly beaten

Mix flour, baking powder, sugar and salt in a bowl. Cut in butter or margarine to resemble coarse crumbs. Combine milk and egg, add to dry ingredients, stirring with a fork until it forms a soft dough. Knead 7 times on floured board. Roll out to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut out biscuits with 2-inch cutter.

Apple goody

Butter a pyrex baking dish (9x9 or 11x9). Peel apples and slice into dish as for a pie until dish is full. Sprinkle apples with sugar as needed to sweeten. In bowl mix together 1 cup brown sugar, 1 cup flour, 1 tsp. cinnamon (or more), 1/2 cup butter or margarine. Work until crumbly. Sprinkle over apples. Bake at 350 degrees until apples are tender. Serve plain or with whipped cream or ice cream.
