Attempt to flee ends in crash
Trooper R. E. Keen clocked a westbound car through his radar check on Rt. 211 Friday afternoon at 85 miles per hour.
A routine speeding ticket ended in an accident, however, when the driver attempted to outrun the trooper. According to Trooper Keen, John J. Greaser, 24, of Luray, refused to stop his 1977 Dodge station wagon when the trooper took off in pursuit after Greaser sped through the speed trap about one mile west of Massies Comer.
However, the chase ended in Washington when Greaser turned right onto Mt. Salem Ave. (Rt. 626). Trooper Keen said he apparently took the comer too fast, losing control after the car’s brakes locked.
