Victims tend to carry around negative emotions, the familiar “chip on the shoulder,” and often see only the bad or difficult side of life. These negative feelings hold them in check and stifle their attempts at job advancement and experiencing the joys of life.

And as parents, those individuals who grew up receiving negative criticism tend to pass it on to their children in their methods of discipline. Thus, the cycle continues.

Often, their feelings of depression, anxiety and guilt may actually be a result of seeds planted very early in life - seeds sowm in the interaction between them and their parents.

The good news is that people can change. Once aware of one’s feelings, an individual can set goals and work on improving the quality ol' their life.
