construction on phase one is being completed in mid-1990. is a 1.9 mile stretch from the Covington River to just east of the Route 211 522 inter1 section in Sperryville. The cost estimate on that phase is $8.4 million. According to Mr. Redmond, the extra cost in that phase results from the need for a new bridge across the Covington River.
Mr. Redmond said that he expects right-of-way acquisitions for the project to begin within the next several weeks.
This past April. Rappahannock County's assistant resident engineer. Mike Moon told the Rappahannock Xeivs that as of September 1987, 20 percent of the right-of-way frontage for phase one had been acquired by VDOT. For phase two. the acquisition already negotiated was in the 10-15 percent range. Mr. Moon said. He said that total rightof-way costs were estimated last year to be $725,000 for phase one and $575,000 for phase two.
