For more than 30 years photographer Marshall P. Hawkins has chronicled the riding world of foxhunting, racing, and eventing. In all regions of the country, Hawkins' photos are treasured by horse lovers of all stripes.
In 1%2, Hawkins' instincts led him to capture Jacqueline Kennedy, then First Lady, as she was catapulted, head-first, over a fence while foxhunting with the Piedmont Hunt. Sensitive to the family's sense of privacy. Jlawkins gained the Kennedy's approval before publishing the picture. Life magazine bought the American publishing rights, and when the London Daily Express bought the world rights, Hawkins became internationally renowned.
A FIELD OF HORSES is both a tribute to Marshall P. 1 law kins' photography and a celebration of the horse world. Over 250 color and black-and-white photographs portray the many worlds of horses—from the showing, hunting, and steeplechasing to the celebnty owners, riders, and beautiful landscapes.
